Colloquium and Seminars

This page provides information concerning colloquia and seminars held in our department.
Colloquia are intended to give overviews of recent topics and aimed at a wide variety of audiences, including students. Seminars are confined to topics in more specific fields, like algebra, topology, analysis, and so on.
The following is a schedule of our colloquia in the academic year 2006.

Cohen-Macaulay local rings of finite representation type and their generalization

Abstract: Cohen-Macaulay local rings of finite representation type, that is, Cohen-Macaulay local rings over which there exist only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable Cohen-Macaulay modules, have deeply been studied for about 30 years, and Gorenstein local rings of finite representation type have already been classified completely under a few assumptions. On the other hand, totally reflexive modules, which are recently studied by many algebraists, are a generalization of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a Gorenstein local ring. In this lecture, I will talk about local rings over which there exist only finitely many indecomposable totally reflexive modules.

On module categories and Auslander-Reiten quivers

Abstract: In representation theory of finite dimensional algebras, the notion of an Auslander-Reiten quiver is very important to investigate the categories of modules. It has also been introduced to the categories of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over Cohen-Macaulay rings. In this lecture, I will talk about the relation of the Auslander-Reiten quivers and the categories of modules.
