The following is an example of ways from NGO to Matsumoto station by train:
The train from NGO to Nagoya is operated by Meitesu, and the train from Nagoya to Matsumoto is operated by JRs.
The following links might be useful:We have Express AZUSA "特急 あずさ[Tokkyu azusa]" from Shinjuku "新宿" to Matsumoto "松本" operated by JR East. It takes less than 3 hours from Shinjuku to Matsumoto.
Every Azusa has two kinds of cars: reserved seats "指定席[Shitei Seki]", and buisiness class "グリーン[Green/Gurin]". The fare for reserved seat is around 6500JPY. The difference of the fares between reserved and business is more than 2500 JPY.
JR calls a car of business class a Green Car "グリーン車[Green Sha]", and the ticket is called Green Ticket "グリーン券[Green Ken]". But I do not know why they called Green.
Expresses of JR usually have cars consists of non-reseved seats. But azusa has no such cars, and uses a system similar to the system in Germany: We have small lights above each seat. The green light means that the seat is reserved by someone at this moment, and the red light means that the seat is not reserved at this moment. The color might be changed in some station. Anyone, who does not have seat reservation by some reason, can use a seat with a red light. (If the color of light is changed, then he/she sould change the seat.)
Azusa has WC. We also can buy some drinks and small snacks in the train. Azusa has no WIFI, but AC.
